On this page you will find avice about;

  • Practicing in your own car
  • Taking lessons in your own car
  • Taking the driving test in your own car

Practising in your own car between lessons is a good idea and can save you a conciderable amount of time and money. However, there are certain things that you need to think about before you venture out. Unless you live way out in the country with miles of empty road you should learn the basics with a driving instructor who can keep you safe in traffic and has dual controls to rescue you if needs be. Your driving should be at such a level that you can control the car safely with just verbal instructions. This is most important as far as BRAKING is concerned. Unless you can brake safely, smoothly and without having to think about it, DO NOT even think about going out in you own car. Praticing in your own car before you are ready can be a harrowing experience for both you and your passenger!                                            In terms of the car itself, firstly make sure your car is in good running order, especially that the brake lights and indicators are all working.
